SNi Photowalk – The World Photography Day

The 19th of August annually is marked the world photography and it is a day celebrated all around the world by creatives big and small.
As the celebration went ahead the community of creative under the umbrella of Shutters Network International also joined in as they embarked on a photo walk project that forms a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility. This effort was powered by CANON.

About the Photo walk
The venue for the photo walk was a Fulani settlement in the Katampe area of the FCT, Nigeria. We stormed the community in our red and white canon t-shirts and indeed we put a lot of color and vibrance in the otherwise very quiet community. The team arrived the community with various gift items ranging from clothes, food, drinks and beverages as well as cleaning agents to mention a few.

The members of the network proceeded into the community to document (pictures & videos) a regular day in a Fulani community.
The whole village was agog with excitement as some of the villagers have not had the opportunity of seeing cameras and other media gears up close.

The walk climaxed when some of the children in the village got the opportunity to not only hold but take pictures with high end professional DSLR and mirrorless cameras. It will be true to say their joy knew no bound.

Furthermore, a lot of interaction was having with the chief as well as the Imam of the community who made us understand that yes, they have benefitted in recent times from the donation of a bore hole system in their community which was an aide they received for the water crisis but currently the setup is faulty and they now have to trek for long distances in search of portable drinking water.

After the walk we were hosted by Big Sam, a member of the network, we split into groups to select the images that was created during the walk. At the venue, the Canon team setup their printers and were able to print 2 pictures per attendee at no cost!
The joy and satisfaction for most of the participants as some said that was the first time, they were seeing their work in print!

In conclusion, it was a fun filled day where we learnt, met new people and did the little we can to impact lives. The world we want will be a better place when we all strive to make our little acts of kindness!
